  • John Brooks TCRG John Brooks TCRG The Brooks Academy of Irish Dancing was established over 35 years ago, by John Brooks TCRG. John, a former pupil of the late great Ted Kavanagh had enjoyed many years as a solo and team dancer, before retiring to pass on his skills as a teacher. Thoughout those years John won both the All Ireland and World Championships on several occasions as part of the Kavanagh Senior Ceili and Figure teams. John was probably the first Irish dancer to appear on television. He was a contestant in the final of the Carol Levis Junior Discoveries in 1957!!!!!!! John opened classes in Bedford , Luton and London and enjoyed success with both solo and team dancers. In 1976 he married Phyllis, and they went on to have 3 children, Ciaron, Sinead & Aislinn, who all now teach alongside John at the Brooks Academy. In 1994 John took his Adjudicators exam and passed first time. John now teaches in Barnet, Herts & Luton Beds.
