John Brooks The Brooks Academy of Irish Dancing was established over 35 years ago, by John Brooks TCRG. John, a former pupil of the late great Ted Kavanagh had enjoyed many years as a solo and team dancer, before retiring to pass on his skills as a teacher. Thoughout those years John won both the All Ireland and World Championships on several occasions as part of the Kavanagh Senior Ceili
and Figure teams.
John was probably the first Irish dancer to appear on television. He was a contestant in the final of the Carol Levis Junior Discoveries in 1957!!!!!!! John opened classes in Bedford , Luton and London and enjoyed success with both solo and team dancers. In 1976 he married Phyllis, and they went on to have 3 children, Ciaron, Sinead & Aislinn, who all now teach alongside John at the Brooks Academy. In 1994 John took his Adjudicators exam and passed first time. John now teaches in Barnet, Herts & Luton Beds.

Sinead Brooks Sinead began dancing at the age of 4, and went onto win many championships around the UK . At 12 she decided as much as she loved dancing, teaching was her passion and she began helping out at her dads classes, teaching the basics to the younger dancers and choreographing the material for all of the open dancers. Sinead continued dancing, and before retiring at 25, had placed top 3 at the British Nationals & Great Britain Championships, had won the Southern Regional Oireachtas twice and had achieved 3 World Championship Solo Medals.
In 2005 Sinead hung up her dancing shoes, and took her TCRG exam in Belfast . She passed with honours and continued teaching the Open Classes at The Brooks Academy with John & Ciaron. She now also teaches beginners classes with her mums help in Muswell Hill, Mill Hill and Potters Bar.

Ciaron Brooks Ciaron began dancing at the age of 5 in his fathers dancing school, the Brooks Academy. He competed until the age of ten before turning his attention to other sporting interests. During this time Ciaron enjoyed the other side of Irish dancing, where he attended classes merely for enjoyment and fitness. At 14, Ciaron returned to the competitive world of Irish dancing and over the next four years enjoyed successes at various major fesianna.
In 1996, Ciaron auditioned successfully for the world-wide phenomenon, Riverdance. Over the course of the next 6 years, Ciaron toured with some of the most renown names in Irish Dancing such as Colin Dunne, Jean Butler and Brendan Galway to name but a few! He danced in an array of countries including Australia , New Zealand , Hong Kong , Japan , France and Germany , as well as completing three sell out tours of the UK . He has also appeared on numerous television shows including The National Lottery, The Generation Game and The Royal Variety Show.
In 2002, Ciaron retired from Riverdance and returned home to begin studying for his degree in Business Studies. He began teaching with his dad and sister, Sinead, at the Brooks Academy, which culminated in him successfully passing his ADCRG exam with honors in 2006, alongside his wife, Majella Collins. Ciaron successfully passed his ADCRG in May 2010.

Aislinn Brooks Aislinn began dancing at the age of 4. As she initially disliked classes, she learnt everything in her living room, before venturing into her first class a year later!! At her first feis she went from Beginners to Open in one day, and her success continued for many years. Before retiring last year Aislinn won the British Nationals twice, European Championships twice, Southern Regional Oireachtas, placed top 3 at the North American Nationals and Great Britain Championships and achieved solo World Championships medals.
Aislinn passed her TCRG exam in February 2010, and now teaches in the Open classes at The Brooks Academy.

Deborah Walshe
Deborah began dancing at the age of 7 with the Griffin O’Loughlin school of Irish dancing. Before retiring aged 20, she achieved top ten places at the British Nationals and Great Britain Championships, along with World Championship recalls and a World Medal for Figure dancing. In 2004, Deborah’s daughter, Isabella, joined the Brooks Academy as a pupil. Deborah’s ambition to study for the TCRG exam returned and she began studying in January 2010. She sat her TCRG exam in Dublin in November 2010, and successfully passed at her first attempt.
Deborah now teaches beginners classes in Flitwick, Bedfordshire.
